Description:

Wild Western Town by Fisher-Price is certainly multi-faceted. It's an rpg (role-playing game) in which you, a Deputy Trainee, must find Bandit Bob the outlaw and the gold he's stolen, which is stashed all around town. During this search, you'll find all sorts of wild west activities and games, from making a WANTED poster (which can be printed) to shooting half the town out of a cannon. There are hundreds of hot spots, some country music with weird lyrics kids will love, and a storekeeper who's got problems and needs help.

Features:

  • Open-ended play.
  • Based on the best-selling toy.
  • Seven areas to explore.
  • Edutainment games with a definite western flair.

Technical Aspects:

This program did freeze our system twice while we were playing. There were also wait times during loading. One other note: the title insists upon being run in 640x480x256, so your video settings will likely have to be changed.

Report and Conclusions:

This title actually brings the toy to life! Li'l cowpokes will have a marvelous time (cowpokettes, too) chasing Bandit Bob and playing the games. My 4 year old daughter appeared by my side as soon as the program was up and running, and after a few minutes, informed me that "*I* can check this one out, Mom." Well, it's designed for kickers aged 3 to 7, and they'll YEE-HAW their way through it - it's not what you'd expect, though - it's better!
