Description:

The Fairy Tale - A True Story Activity Center and offers more interaction with the fairies than the girls in the movie ever had! The movie is the story of two English girls who claimed to have photographed fairies in 1917. Explore the major settings from the movie - the Beck, a scrolling 3-d interactive garden, the Theatre, where kids can print sets, play trivia, help Houdini and watch clips from the movie, and the House - explore Elsie's room, keep fairy photos, read about fairies, paint pictures, play jigsaws and develop photos in the darkroom.

Features:

  • Fourteen fairy-based activities.
  • Encourages reading, writing, creativity and exploration.
  • Three environments.
  • Try to take photos of fairies!

Technical Aspects:

As usual, Knowledge Adventure is very up-front about the minimum requirements for running the Fairy Tale Activity Center. We had no problems of any type, but I'd hate to try it on a 486 and wouldn't suggest that anyone try that. The graphics are very similar to the movie, lush and beautiful.

Report and Conclusions:

While Fairy Tale - A True Story Activity Center was designed for kids ages 7 to 11, girls, in particular, will enjoy it. What we liked about this title is that the fairies are much more prominent in the CD-ROM - in the movie, they appeared very infrequently. Here, the fairies guide kids through activities and are hiding in the Belk - can you spot them?? Our favorite activity was helping Houdini escape from certain death! If your kids enjoyed the movie (two out of three of mine loved it,) they'll be enchanted by this program.
