Description:

DK Multimedia's Eyewitness Children's Encyclopedia will help kids develop a life long love for learning. Too few encyclopedias are designed for children, considering their developmental ranges and interests. This title is beautifully smooth and presents information in a fascinating way.

Features:

  • 3D Virtual Reality technology - 20 environments.
  • Over 5,000 information screens and pop-ups.
  • Text-to-speech technology.
  • 600,000 words of written text.
  • 700 biographies of various people.
  • Internet link to DK Active Learning Club website.

Reactions:

One of the things we checked was to see if the encyclopedia articles appear differently for younger children - and they don't. The information is still presented nicely, and kids younger than 7 may enjoy looking at some of the videos and diagrams. Our 4 year old is fascinated with a cut-away diagram of an elephant, and we've been doing some exploring together. The title covers culture, nature, history, science, geography and includes an atlas. Don't forget to click the smiley face - Grab A Gag features lots of jokes kids will love. The extensive cross-referencing and search functions make finding information a snap, and there are illustrations, photographs and even a challenging quiz game to test knowledge.
