Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? is an adventure game that proves that history CAN be fun! Even a child that claims to hate history will enjoy playing this humorous and informative game.
With help from the Good Guides, your job is to track down Carmen's gang and recover the stolen items from different times in history. There are 18 cases to solve, then a final chase to catch Carmen, which takes the player back through the previous 18 historical events. Most of the historical figures will be familiar, but there are a few who are usually not mentioned in elementary school books. The only drawback to this game is that it may be a little short for the older kids.

Technical Aspects:
We had no problems installing this game, but there were long loading times between scenes. The graphics are exactly like the ones depicted on the box, and by looking at the box, you will receive a good deal of information about the game. We hooked up to the internet site with no problems.
Report and Conclusions:
This is certainly an enjoyable way to learn history! The characters are funny, and the graphics are very good. There is even a web site for those who have internet access (Windows 95 only) which provides articles from Brittanica, hints, and a feedback area that will be added soon. This game may be a little short for the older kids, though, as the 6th grader currently playing this game finished the first 6 cases in approximately 5 hours of total playing time! (not consecutive). The cases do get harder as you progress, however, and will be more challenging for the younger crowd.
