The Deluxe Compton's Reference Suite is composed of three titles from Compton's Home Library series: Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia 1998 Edition Deluxe, The Complete Reference Collection 1998 Edition, and Compton's Interactive World Atlas 1997 Edition. The Encyclopedia has a ton of information with over 39,000 articles and facts, 150 videos, slide shows and animations, 713 sound clips, 16,000+ pictures, maps and flags, and 365 tables. Compton's Interactive World Atlas contains 600+ maps of every country, videos, music clips, common phrases spoken in 43 languages, and almost 200 national flags. The Reference Collection is a combination of various reference materials including an encyclopedia, dictionary, almanac, geographical dictionary, medical guide, thesaurus, and others.
Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia 1998 Edition Deluxe is an excellent tool for research, and also includes a Showmaker option which allows the user to make a multimedia report using material from the encyclopedia such as sound clips, videos, text, and pictures as well as imported art and sound files from other sources. The completed report can be saved to a floppy for easy transport. For Windows 95 users, there is a planetarium and star quest game for astronomy fans.
With its wealth of information about each country, Compton's Interactive World Atlas is much more than just an Atlas. You can take a flight to anywhere you want to go in 3D, or take a tour. Statistics are available for each country, as well as the weather, profiles of each country, maps, and many other subjects. Rounding off this trio is the Reference Collection, which is a grouping of 10 complete reference works including a writer's handbook on grammar and style, and also an Internet Directory.

Technical Aspects:
Installation was a snap and everything ran very well. All the videos were clear and the sound was excellent. Manuals and reference cards are included, and the online tutorials are very helpful.
Report and Conclusions:
This reference collection is a solid presentation of everything you will need for research on any given topic. The Showmaker option is a definite plus for making reports fun, especially for students.
