Description:

The Cat in the Hat is the third Dr. Seuss book converted into Living Books format. Living Books has continued to refine and expand the activities and it seems like each of its new releases is more fun than the last. In fact, this company is the one who defined the genre for Interactive Storybooks. Besides, who could ever resist Dr. Seuss? Not this grown-up kid, anyhow!

Features:

  • Activities galore, including a tile game and two logic games.
  • A balancing activity!
  • Create new hairstyles for Thing One.
  • A copy of the original paperback book is included.
  • Enhances language skills in Dr. Seuss' inimitable style.

Technical Aspects:

The Cat in the Hat works with Windows '95 autoplay, and had no runtime problems, bugs, glitches or other difficulty. The animations ran smoothly and are in the classic Dr. Seuss style. It also runs well on a 486/66 system. It doesn't seem to install any files on the hard drive, so an uninstall program isn't needed.

Report and Conclusions:

Tommy and Sally look a lot like my two little kids (aged 3 and 4), down to the hair color! My two loved this one, and it's been difficult to get it away from them long enough to explore and find out what all the activities are. Besides dragging their copy of the book around, they've been standing beside me the entire time this title has been running. Lots of giggles and grins. It's designed to appeal to kids aged 3 to 7, but adults who love Dr. Seuss will enjoy it as well.
