Description:

Candy Land Adventure is based on the beloved children's board game, and will quickly become a favorite with your children. You'll visit six candy-filled lands to explore, each with two learning activities. There are also two levels of difficulty, which extends the value of the title. The story here is that King Kandy has been kidnapped by Lord Licorice - you have to help Candy Kid rescue him. Yes, it's sickeningly sweet, but kids age 3-6 love it.

Features:

  • Six lands to explore
  • Twelve edutainment activities
  • Multi-player mode
  • Two difficulty levels
  • Develops early math and letter sequencing skills

Notes:

Candy Land Adventure runs directly from the CD-ROM on Autoplay. The animations and video sequences ran quite smoothly. If you do run into problems, Hasbro Interactive quite thoughtfully includes a System Analyzer that will check your computer and let you know mundane details such as processor type and speed, which you NEED to determine if your machine can run the title. Lord Licorice is the only "scary" character and he's funny - King Kandy and his friends get the last laugh (OOPS! Gave away the ending! Ha!) We played on both the Easy and Harder setting - the Harder version isn't really harder, there's just more of it. By that, I mean, more pieces to the puzzle, more shapes to match, etc. The music in this title is very nicely done and integrates with the graphics beautifully.

Reactions:

To be honest, Candy Land Adventure is too sweet for my tastes, but more importantly, what did our 3 year old think? I don't know if I'll ever forget the light in her eyes as she rescued King Kandy, talked back to Lord Licorice and cheered. Then she strutted around the house for a good half hour, proclaiming, "I freed King Kandy! I DID it!" Since then, she's been asking to play at least half a dozen times daily. Hasbro Interactive has been careful to balance this title so that it will appeal to both boys and girls. This Mom appreciates that attention to detail, and it increases the value of the product - when our daughter is "finished" with this (I can't foresee that day right now!), we'll turn it over to our son. Looks like King Kandy's future is assured at our house, at least. Candy Land Adventure has the best game ending I've seen in a LONG time. I'll leave it at that, it truly gives the child a boost!
