Description:

Living Books offers a number of options with its books and this selection, "The Berenstain Bears Get In A Fight" includes all of them. Children can choose to have the story read to them or to play their way through the story. They can also choose where to begin in the story and have the story read in English or in Spanish. The Options are read aloud by Mama Bear to make it easier for children to understand what to do next.

Generally, the Berenstain Bears get along well, but all families have their problems! My children love the fight scenes and even act them out at home. The scenes are nicely done and the animated sequences run very smoothly. You won't find choppy or uneven video or audio here.

Having the words light up as they're read enhances a child's pre-reading skills. And while recently, critics have pointed out that part of the importance of a parent reading is the physical closeness, which may be absent during computer sessions. It's not necessarily so, you and your child may sit together and enjoy these books and it can provide the same closeness while helping your little one learn mouse skills.

There were aspects of the story that this parent didn't care for. My 3 year old picked up several new vocabulary words I had hoped she could avoid or at least postpone such as "big grump," "dopey," "shut-up," and behaviors such as beating Brother Bear to the bathroom, and smashing up his school project.

The storm inside becomes louder than the storm outside! These cubs are really getting into a habit of fighting and their parents are becoming very tired of hearing it at all hours of the day and night.

Mama Bear finally gets everyone's attention and explains that just because we're in a bad mood, we shouldn't act ugly towards each other. The cubs indicate that they understand and while they still bicker, their fights don't go on for days and days. The happy ending is that the parents finally get a good night's sleep!

As mentioned earlier, my kids love this program. The 3 year old watches it over and over and acts out different parts of the story. Sometimes I wish she'd quit that!
