Description:

Magic Fairy Tales: Barbie as Rapunzel is an interactive storybook based on the classic fairytale of Rapunzel, with puzzles and games to solve, as Rapunzel rescues the prince. The idea of changing the ending of the story to fit our "politically correct" world doesn't appeal, however, the story does seem to evolve naturally. It would have been nice if there could have been multiple endings, and that would also have extended the life of the title.

Features:

  • Attic Dress-Up Game
  • Card Game (MATCHING, yech!)
  • The Dragon's Treasure (more matching.)
  • The Ogre's Maze
  • Decorate the Wedding Cake
  • Bridesmaids' Dresses (matching COLORS)

Reactions:

It's so ironic that the decision was made to have Barbie rescue the Prince, changing the story completely, and then they filled the title with the lame "puzzles" listed in the features! Matching games have been done to death, it's a fact. And the Rapunzel who rescues the Prince wants us to play "Decorate the Wedding Cake" and "Bridesmaids' Dresses" ??

Yes, I know it's a waste of bandwidth to complain. My 4 year old daughter loves this title. She enjoys playing the "Attic Dress-Up Game" and thinks decorating a wedding cake is cool, especially if Barbie is involved. Would I buy this one for her? Nope. Would she beg for it? Definitely, which means her Grandma or Aunt would probably spring for it. Face it, there's no escaping the allure of Barbie, Rapunzel or whoever she is.
