Description:

Kids are so curious about animals - at least mine always are! Animals on the Move uses tours, video sequences and narration to explore how various species get around. The video sequences are from the BBC Natural History film library. The game section is informative, as well as unusual.

Features:

  • Over 250 video sequences of animal movement.
  • Multimedia tours narrated by Prof. R. McNeil Alexander, an authority on biomechanics.
  • Hundreds of photos and illustrations.
  • Search tools.
  • Over 350 learning levels.
  • Printable screens, photos.

Technical Aspects:

Animals on the Move! gave us no problems during runtime or installation. The graphics are quite impressive, and we found no video or audio choppiness. The interface is quite simple and straightforward, which will help kids get around.

Report and Conclusions:

The games in this title are quite different - exploring the dynamics of buoyancy, running from a cheetah, being a bird that's out catching caterpillars to take back to hungry baby birds, and much more. We were amazed at the sheer amount of content in this program! It's designed for children ages 10 and up, and would certainly complement any natural science classroom lab. Our favorite game was making the monkey swing on the rope (it wasn't as simple as it appeared!)
