Several companies have been releasing updated arcade classics and now Activision has announced the upcoming release of Asteroids, the popular Atari game. Asteroids was originally released in 1979 and quickly became one of the most successful coin-op machine games in the arcades. After Asteroid's introduction to the home gaming scene, it became one of the highest-selling video games. The original game required the player to shoot invading flying saucers while evading asteroids. Activision is keeping the non-stop firing and dodging aspects of the game and adding 3D graphics, expanded playing areas, increasingly difficult hazards and multiple levels of play. Asteroids will be released Christmas 1998; price unknown.

Broderbund is planning on releasing a CD-ROM version of This Old House, the home repair show from WGBH Boston. Based on the TV show of the same name, This Old House Kitchen and Home Architect will feature tours of actual kitchen remodeling projects, advice from Steve Thomas (This Old House host), and 3D design tools to help you design your dream kitchen. Available this spring; price unknown.

Corel is offering a deluxe version of its popular Print House suite, Print House Magic Deluxe. This newest version will include Print House 3 for home printing projects, Photo House 2 for photo editing, and Family and Friends, plus enhancements such as 100,000 graphics included. This deluxe version will feature more clipart and photos, third party add-ons and access to more than 100 animated electronic postcards that are designed especially for users of Print House Magic Deluxe. Available April for a retail price of $69.99.
