Bebes de Lodo is the Spanish version of Mud Babies.

Bebes de Lodo is a story that deals with a universal theme of childhood--Mud. It seems to capture very young children's imagination without exception. I have read the story at a number of preschools, and the reaction is always rapt attention followed by an animated discussion of the children's personal experiences with mud.

Bebes de Lodo is vintage Platypus. It has been around forever, and had not been released prior to 1995. (To put that into perspective, Jean, the primary protagonist in the story, is on the threshhold of middle school). I make no apologies for the crude graphics, or the fact that it does not really do very much. This stack does not impress adults at all. It is technically primitive, and in that sense, does not meet my own personal standards. But let your 2-year old rate it. It is the kids that convinced me to release it.

It is a talking story. It talks, albeit with a funky accent, with the old Macintalk (on pre system 7 and some system 7 machines but definitely not PowerMacs). It also works with the Mexican version of Plaintalk. With this speech software it renders the story with a much more authentic accent. If you have the English version of Plaintalk, the Spanish will be murdered. If you don't have any speech software no problem. Bebes de Lodo will still entertain your child; it just will not speak. Ideal for older Macs - but runs on OS 8, too.

Prude considerations:
This stack contains a considerable amount of nudity, but I tried to be discrete. People who think naked babies are sinful should probably not download this stack. Those people should probably also avoid art museums in general, and any works by Rubens, Michelangelo, etc., in particular.
