DESCRIPTION

The US Virgin Islands are a collection of 53 volcanic islands, just to the east of Puerto Rico. Most of the population – a mix of African and European ethnic groups – live on the main islands of St. John, St. Thomas, and St. Croix. Tourism is the principal activity, although St. Croix has also used federal aid to develop industry. It has one of the world's largest oil refineries.
