DESCRIPTION

The territory of the Coral Sea Islands is a group of reefs and islands, scattered over an area of nearly one million square km (386,000 square miles), off the east coast of Queensland, Australia. Uninhabited except for a staffed weather station on Willis Island, the islands function as a large nature reserve. They provide sanctuary, in particular, to a number of rare seabirds and turtles.
