DESCRIPTION

A barren, triangular reef, less than one meter (3 feet) in elevation, Kingman Reef lies 1,500 km (930 miles) southwest of Hawaii. The reef is 14 km (9 miles) long and 8 km (5 miles) wide. Only the eastern end of it now remains above water. There is no land flora, but it is rich in marine life. The reef is administered by the US Navy.
