DESCRIPTION

A small coral island, less than 3 km (2 miles) long and 1.5 km (one mile) wide, Jarvis Island is located 2,000 km (1,240 miles) south of Honolulu. It remains uninhabited, although scientists do occasionally visit. The island is managed primarily as a nesting, roosting and foraging site for seabirds and shorebirds.
