Steps For Motion Capture

After obtaining digitized video files of the subject, Photo4D can be invoked to extract motion data. The following steps are usually involved when using Photo4D:

  1. Add video to project: Create a Photo4D motion capture project and add the video files into the project.
  2. Track/Edit marks: Mark feature points in the videos by initially marking points in a frame and then letting Photo4D track the marks in other frames.
  3. Setup: As in a digitizing project, users need to set up reference points, initial camera parameters, etc. In addition, a few frames need to be marked in a special way if you want Photo4D synchronize videos precisely.
  4. Compute: First, Photo4D computes the precise video synchronization parameters. Then, the camera parameters and the X,Y,Z coordinates of points can be computed for all frames.
  5. Verify results: As in a digitizing project, the computed camera parameters and x,y,z coordinates should be verified..
  6. Export motion data: The motion data is exported to a .pef file.
