Image Converter module

The Image Converter module converts the following image formats to the PPM (true color) or PGM (gray scale) formats:

• .tif or .tiff - TIFF image file format.
• .gif - GIF color image file format.
• .rast or .r - Sun Raster image file format.
• .rgb or .sgi - IRIS RGB image file format.
• .tga or .targa - Targa image file format.
• .bmp - Microsoft Windows Bitmap image file format.
• .jpg or .jpeg - JPEG image file format.

The names of the image files must follow the file name conventions.

The Image Converter may be invoked from the menu [Utilities|Image Converter...] in the Main Window.

The dialog has the following elements:

• Images to be converted listbox: lists all image files that need to be converted.
• Add button: invokes a file selection dialog to add image files. Clicking an image in the file selection dialog will add it to the listbox.
• Remove button: deletes a selected image file from the listbox.
• Clear button: deletes all image files from the listbox.
• Color option buttons: select 'save as source' to keep color information after convertion (PPM file), or save as a 'gray scale' PGM image file.
• In dir: This is the directory where converted files go. Use the browse button to select a directory.
• Convert button: launches the convertion process.
• Abort Button: stops the convertion in progress.
• Close button: closes this dialog.
• Help button: invokes on-line help.
