Create Synchronization Point

Creating and editing a synchronization point is done using the "Create Sync Point" subpage in the Compute page of the Main Window.

Create a new synchronization point:

  1. Press the "Create" button. This will clear all the entries in the subpage.
  2. Select a pair of different video names for the "Sync" and "To" fields. Enter the frame numbers in the "at frame" fields of both videos to indicate that the two frames correspond to the same moment.
  3. Change the value of the adjustment if you can estimate its value.
  4. Finally, press the "Save" botton to save the synchronization point into the database.
You must save the change otherwise the newly created sync point will be lost.

Edit a synchronization point:

  1. Select an existing synchronization point for editing by clicking on the small arrow at the right side of the "Edit" field. This will pop up a list of all the sync point in the database.
  2. Clicking on one will select it as the current sync point. All the fields will be updated accordingly.
  3. Delete the current sync point by pressing the "Delete" button.
The major issue for creating sync points is to identify what frame of one video should be synchronized to what frame of another video. You need to use the Video Control window and Aux Image window to play and compare the videos. As in the initial video synchronization you should find a distinctive event that occurs at a certain frame only, then find this event in other videos.

After creating enough synchronization points, press the "Update Video Sync Parameters" button in the "Create Sync Point" subpage. If all the videos are related with 2 or more synchronization points, Photo4D will compute the synchronization parameters and update the new value in the database. Otherwise, a dialog will pop up, informing you that more sync points are needed.
