I wish I could run a diagnostic on the Windows registry. Your wish is granted! The Windows registry stores system, user, and application configuration information. This information is usually updated automatically. When you set up a new Windows application, its configuration information is written into the registry. If you use the Windows Control Panel Add/Remove Programs function to remove that application, its information is removed from the registry. Sometimes due to system or user error, outdated information remains in the registry. These registry entries are called orphans. Check for registry orphans. |
