Restrict Tildes and Numbers
To control how Windows creates short filenames:
- Check Restrict Tildes and Numbers.
- Click Restart to restart Windows.
Many Windows applications look for folder names employing the tilde-and-number truncation. If you turn this truncation scheme off, some applications may not function correctly.
