ReXX the Excel Expert

Xyconyx is offering a unique alternative to standard Excel Y2000 complaince tools. ReXX, the Excel Expert comes as a site license package of two products: A wizard type application and a Microsoft Excel Add-in.

The wizard type application is used to report on and/or replace instances or 2 digit years in Number Formats, cell Values and Functions, and the Visual Basic macro code behind a spreadsheet. It will also alert the operator to the use of any of the Microsoft Excel date functions like DATE(.. or NOW(). The wizard can scan and fix a drive at a time (including network drives) and writes a comprehensive log for audit purposes.

The add-in scans and reports on or fixes the currently open workbook. Every user can have this on their PC to check spreadsheets which may have missed the initial run with the wizard. This solves the problem of maintaining compliance after an initial "Bulk Scan".

The package comes with a complete money-back guarantee and has a full demo version available. Check out www.xyconyx.com.au for details.

ReXX the Excel Expert will run in either PC or Mac environments. Different versions are available for Excel 5 through to Excel 97 in both 16 bit and 32 bit environments. Both the wizard and the add-in perform the following:

  • Changes any occurrence of "yy" to "yyyy" in Number formats, cell values and macro code.
  • Alerts to any instances of the following Excel date functions:
    • DATE(... only if a 2 digit date is specified
    • DATEVALUE(...
    • NOW()
    • TODAY()
    • YEAR(...
    • YEARFRAC(...

The wizard will scan up to a local or network drive at a time giving the operator the ability to select or deselect certain files. It searches for .xls, .xla and .xlt files. The wizard writes a log to a workbook in Microsoft Excel and adds a new time and date stamped sheet for each run.

The add-in is installed locally and works on the currently active spreadsheet. A press of a toolbar button invokes the add-in. It creates a new sheet in the workbook to write a record of suggested changes, then another press of a toolbar button will make the changes.
