Compaq Computer Corporation

http://www.compaq.com/year2000/

Compaq understands that its customers wish to be well prepared for the transition to the Year 2000. To address that need, Compaq has engaged the world's leading independent information technology testing organization, NSTL, to test its x86-based commercial and consumer desktop PCs, portable PCs, servers and workstations for Year 2000 readiness. NSTL's unique real-world methodologies and benchmarks are the global standards for IT testing. After undergoing NSTL's rigorous testings, Compaq products were the first in the world to be eligible to carry the NSTL Tested Year 2000 Hardware Compliant logo.

Compaq realizes the importance its customers place on having Year 2000 compliant products and pledges to provide this. Includes Digital- and Tandem- brand product information. To emphasize its commitment, Compaq states that any current Compaq commercial and consumer desktop PCs, portable PCs, servers and workstations purchased on or after October 7, 1997 (the Compaq Year 2000 Compliance Program announcement date) failing to pass the YMARK2000 test, will be treated by Compaq as a defect covered under its limited product warranty, subject to warranty limitations. Please refer to product documentation for a full statement of Compaq's limited product warranty.

If you purchased a product prior to October 7, 1997, your product may still pass the NSTL YMARK2000 test. Compaq has been working for many months to bring its entire system product line into compliance. Since all products were not brought into compliance on the same date, certain products purchased prior to October 7, 1997 may require a ROM BIOS upgrade to pass the test. Complete information on Compaq products is available on our website.
