10. What is the BIOS "century
rollover" hardware problem?
As related to the
year 2000 issue, this refers to the inability of some computer
hardware, usually the Real Time Clock
(RTC) and Basic Input/Output System
(BIOS), to correctly interpret the century as the
twenty-first (20xx). When the two digits allocated for the year
"roll over" from "99" to "00," the BIOS of some computers will
incorrectly interpret the year to be "1900" instead of "2000." This
will may lead to inaccuracies within the computer system regarding
dates and date calculations.

Microsoft White Paper, Microsoft Operating System
Interactions with BIOS and Real Time Clock.
