Choose Strategy/Implement
Once you have determined which personal (data) files are both important and may be affected by year 2000 issues, you'll want to consider your options for correcting these files.

Remember:
It is safest to use four-digit years in all personal (data) files.

In some cases you will be able to obtain automated programs, such as Microsoft's "wizards," from your software vendor to help you quickly change dates in existing files. For example, owners of Microsoft Office 97 can download several wizards to change dates in Excel workbooks at http://support.microsoft.com/support/
kb/articles/Q176/9/43.asp
.
There may be other programs available to help change dates in data files that are not from Excel. If you cannot locate a program to assist you with date changes, you will need to make the changes manually.
