Intel 14.4EXF/Intel SatisFAXtion 400e PROM Update Program           2/3/93


This program will update the Flash PROM on the Intel 14.4EXF modem and the
SatisFAXtion 400e faxmodem with the latest version of the Flash Code.

NOTE: THIS PROGRAM WILL NOT WORK WITH THE INTEL 14.4EX (PART NUMBER PCEM71244)
      IT ONLY WORKS WITH THE INTEL 14.4EXF (PART NUMBER PCEM71244F). NOTE THE
      "F" AT THE END OF THE PART NUMBER.  THIS WILL TELL YOU WHICH VERSION OF
      THE MODEM YOU HAVE.

FILES INCLUDED IN ARCHIVE:

        LOAD.EXE   - The Loader program.  Used to send code to the modem.
        FLASH27A.BIN - The code to update the FLASH PROM.
        SHOW.EXE - File viewing program for readme.txt
        README.TXT - This file.
        README.BAT - Batch file to run show.exe and load readme.txt

To use the LOAD program:

1> Have the 14.4EXF or the SatisFAXtion 400e connected to the comm port.
2> Turn on the 14.4EXF or the SatisFAXtion 400e.
3> Boot your system to a DOS diskette (NO CONFIG.SYS OR AUTOEXEC.BAT).
4> At the DOS prompt, run the program using the below parameters.

    LOAD filename [parameters]
            /B (baudrate)   - Baudrate 300-9600
            /P (port number)- Comm Port 1-2
            /H              - Print this screen


EXAMPLE:

A> LOAD FLASH27A.BIN /B9600 /P2

This example will load the filename FLASH27A.BIN and send it at 9600 baud
to the modem on comm port 2.


The program will execute and put the modem into program mode, erase the
current Flash PROM, and send the new code to the modem.  This procedure
can take some time depending on the baud rate selected.  The program
will report whether the update was successful or not.
