I needed a vacation. ³ ³ ³ ³ It had been an especially hard year for me. Two of my students died ³ ³ from drug overdoses. All the other instructors said it was just a sign ³ ³ of the times. I did not believe this. A tragedy of our time, but ³ ³ hopefully not a sign. Both students were bright and good achievers. ³ ³ No life should be wasted in such a manner. It angered me at the time, ³ ³ and still does for that matter. They set out to commit suicide and ³ ³ accomplished their goal. She came down ³ ³ with the flu, which turned to pneumonia and within three days was dead. ³ ³ ³ ³ Nothing seemed to have any effect on the pneumonia, it just got hold of ³ ³ her and that was that. Anna and I had gone to school together. We ³ ³ became friends when we were eight years old and remained good friends ³ ³ for all those years. Her death was very upsetting to me.
