Logical device Verifying logical devices

Use this action to check redundant logical devices for inconsistent or bad data. Verification is similar to Verify with fix, except that the Adaptec Storage Manager does not repair the drive if bad data is found.

Verification can be a lengthy operation. You cannot perform any other actions on the controller until the verification is completed. You can verify the logical drive immediately or schedule it for another time. You can also schedule the verification as a recurring task. A recurring task starts at the initial start time, then runs periodically according to the given interval: the same time each day, the same time each week, or the same time each month.

Note: You cannot perform any other actions on the controller until the verification is completed. For example, you cannot schedule a verification if another logical device verification is in progress.

An example

You schedule a verification task with an initial start time of Sunday, December 21, 2003 at 2:00 AM. It recurs weekly. It will run again on Sunday December 28, 2003 at 2:00 AM.

Note: Do not turn off the %SERVER% while verification is in progress.

To verify a logical device:

  1. In the Logical devices view, click Logical device (logical drive).

  2. Right-click Verify.

  3. Click Yes to verify the logical device immediately (now). The Adaptec Storage Manager displays (in animation) in the Logical devices view, indicating that the operation is in progress.

  4. Or click Schedule to schedule the verification for a later date and time. The Adaptec Storage Manager displays the Scheduler pane:
