Troubleshooting
The following is a list of error messages that are generated by the
DSJ client. The error messages will appear in a dialog box, like this:
- Unable to locate the specified server: <server>
The hostname or IP address you have specified for the server is bad,
or the machine at the address is down (turned off, crashed, not
connected to the network). Contact your DSJ server administrator. You
could also try contacting a different server.
- The serverÆs maximum number of connections has been
reached
The server has been configured to serve a limited number of
connections, and that limit has been reached. Try again later, or try
another server.
- The server <server> is not responding to DSJ client
requests
The server machine is up, but either the DSJ server is not running
(properly) on the machine, or you are communicating on the wrong port.
Contact your DSJ server administrator. You could also try contacting a
different server.
- The applicationÆs maximum number of connections has
been reached
The application has been configured to serve a limited number of
connections, and that limit has been reached. Try again later, or try
another server.
- Application not found on server
The application you asked for is not installed on the server, or you
do not have rights to run that application. For security reasons, the
error message for these two conditions is the same. Verify that the user
name and password you are using is correct. (If the password doesnÆt
match, you are considered an anonymous user.) If it is, then contact the
DSJ server administrator about the problem application.
Also, the DSJ server administrator may temporarily disable
connections to an application. Try again later.
- The application is not properly installed on the
server
Definitely a server configuration problem. Contact the DSJ server
administrator about the problem application.
- Error transferring data between client and server
A network problem has occurred, and the DSJ client was not able to
recover. This is a general networking problem; if it recurs, contact
your network administrator.
