Welcome to the Visual Basic 4 Multimedia Adventure Set CD-ROM!

This CD contains the following main directories:

\VBMAGIC  ---- | Contains all of the VB source code and projexts for the book
\SHARWARE ---- | Contains shareware for creating multimedia projects
\VFW      ---- | Contains the Video for Windows Development Kit as well as
		 many sample video clips and the runtime version of VFW
\WINDOWS  ---- | Contains files for VB support (see note below)
\CLIPS    ---- | Great royalty-free Sound Effects and video clips (AVI & MPEG).
\TOOLS    ---- | Shareware and freeware programs for you to use, including:
			Internet connection software
			Image & sound editing tools
			HTML Editor's
			Windows utility software

In addition, many of these directories contain subdirectories. For
more informaation, refer to the installation section in the book.

Grand Canyon Demo Notes:

To install the Explore the Grand Canyon demonstration program, simply run
the file GCSETUP.EXE. This program will run you through all the options you
have for installing the software.

The demo uses files that are stored in the following directories:
	\AUDIO          - Audio clips for the GC demo
	\DEM_DATA       - 3D model data
	\IMAGES         - Images for demo
	\VIDEO          - Video clips for demo
	\VFWRT          - Video For Windows Run/Time (not needed with Win 95)

SPECIAL NOTE: 
If you have any problems running the programs on the CD-ROM, first
make sure that you copy all the files from the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory on
the CD rom into the same directory on your hard drive.

IMPORTANT****

All of the files in the directory \VBMAGIC are assigned read-only attribute 
because they are stored on the CD-ROM. To run some of the VB programs in this
directory, you must:

(1) copy the files to your hard drive
(2) set the attribute of the files to read-write.

To help you copy the files to your hard drive and set the proper attributes,
a .BAT file is included on the CD-ROM called PROGINST.BAT

This file installs all of the VB programs, source files, and other related
files to your hard disk. Use this command as follows:

   PROGINST <source drive> <target drive>

Source drive is the name of your CD drive and traget drive is the name of
the hard drive where you plan to install the files. The program will
automatically create a VBMAGIC directory on your hard drive, copy the files
and directories, and the change the read-only tag off.
