GET STATUS LINE NUMBER HELP This option allows you to choose the line for which you wish to view information. To view information about a line, highlight the line and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 GET STATUS HELP The "Get Status" option shows the current status of the selected connection. The following information is shown: "Line Number" indicates which line forms the selected connection and whether the connection is "enabled" or "disabled." "Modem Type" indicates whether the selected connection's modem is a "Hayes Compatible" or "Special Configuration." "Dial Mode" indicates whether the modem makes the selected connection by using a touch tone or a pulse dial mode. Page 1 of 2 GET STATUS HELP "Line State" indicates who established the selected connection, whether it is available, dialing, broken, or being reset. "Baud Rate" will appear as either "Configured" or "Connected" depending on the current state of the line. If the line is connected, the entry will indicate the baud rate at which the modem is connected, not necessarily the rate at which it was configured. "Life Class" indicates the type of the selected connection; it may be either timed or continuous. If the connection is timed, this entry will also indicate how much time remains before the connection will be broken. Page 2 of 2 ADD DIRECTORY ENTRY DIALEE ID HELP "Dialee ID" is the name you select to identify the location you would like to call. This is the name that will be displayed in the dialing directory. To specify the "Dialee ID," highlight the space to the right of the "Dialee ID" entry, type the name of your destination and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ADD DIRECTORY OTHER SIDE ID STRING HELP The "Other Side ID String" refers to the ID string of the remote bridge. It was specified when the remote bridge was configured. To specify the Other Side ID String, type the ID string and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ADD DIRECTORY ENTRY DIAL STRING HELP "Dial String" refers to the modem command string (including phone number of the bridge you are calling) used to establish a connection with the desired network. If you have a Hayes or compatible modem, you must specify a dial string. To specify the dial string, type the dial string and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ADD DIRECTORY LIFE CLASS HELP The "Life Class" option allows you to select whether the connection will be continuous or timed. If the connection is continuous, it will remain active until it is manually disconnected. If it is timed, the connection will remain active until the specified amount of time has expired without any packet activity. Specify this amount at the "Idle Time-Out" option. To select the "Life Class," highlight the appropriate type and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ADD DIRECTORY ENTRY IDLE TIME-OUT HELP "Idle Time-Out" is the number of minutes of inactivity before the connection will automatically terminate. If you selected the "Timed" option for the "Life Class" entry, you must specify the "Idle Time-Out." Type the number of minutes you want the system to wait before terminating a connection automatically and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ADD DIRECTORY ENTRY HELP To add bridges to the dialing directory, you must have supervisor rights. If you have supervisor rights, you must fill in the "Add Directory Entry" form with information about the bridge you are adding. Page 1 of 1 ADD DIRECTORY ENTRY SAVE CHANGES HELP To save the information for the new bridge entry in the dialing directory, highlight "Yes" and press the SELECT key. If you do not want to save the information, highlight "No" and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ESTABLISH CONNECTION LINE NUMBER HELP This option allows you to choose the line with which you wish to make a connection. To choose the line number, move the selection bar to highlight the number of the line with which you wish to make the connection and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ESTABLISH CONNECTION BRIDGE PASSWORD HELP If a password was specified for the bridge you are dialing out through, you must type it and press the SELECT key to establish a connection. The password was specified as the control password during the bridge configuration process. The case of the password characters must agree with those entered during the bridge configuration process (i.e., lower-case characters are not the same as upper-case letters). Page 1 of 1 ESTABLISH CONNECTION OTHER SIDE ID STRING HELP The "Other Side ID String" refers to the ID string for the bridge you are calling. This entry was specified during configuration of the remote bridge. It is important that the case of the characters agree with those entered during the bridge configuration process. To specify the Other Side ID String, type the ID string and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ESTABLISH CONNECTION DIAL STRING HELP "Dial String" refers to the modem command string (including phone number of the bridge you are calling) used to establish a connection with the desired network. Page 1 of 1 ESTABLISH CONNECTION LIFE CLASS HELP "Life Class" allows you to select the type of connection you are establishing. It may be either timed or continuous. If you select continuous, an established connection will remain active until it is manually disconnected. If you select timed, the connection will remain active until the specified amount of time without any packet activity has expired. Specify this amount of time at the "Idle Time-Out" option. To specify the "Life Class" of the selected connection, highlight the appropriate option and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ESTABLISH CONNECTION IDLE TIME-OUT HELP "Idle Time-Out" is the number of minutes of inactivity before the connection will automatically terminate. If you selected the "Timed" option for the "Life Class" entry, you must specify the "Idle Time-out." To select the number of minutes, type the number and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 ESTABLISH CONNECTION HELP This option allows you to establish a new connection with a remote network. If the bridge from which you are dialing has more than one line, you must specify the line to be used; otherwise the line number will be fixed at 1. Page 1 of 1 ESTABLISH CONNECTION SAVE CHANGES HELP The "Save Changes" window allows you to save your changes and exit the "Establish Connection" form. To establish the connection you specified, highlight "Yes" and press the SELECT key. The program will establish the connection and then return to the "Options" menu. If you do not wish to establish the specified connection, highlight "No" and press the SELECT key. The program will return to the "Options" menu without taking any action. Page 1 of 1 TERMINATE CONNECTION LINE NUMBER HELP To terminate a connection, highlight the line number of the connection you wish to terminate and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1 TERMINATE CONNECTION BRIDGE PASSWORD HELP Enter the password of the local bridge that you you are instructing to terminate the connection; then press the SELECT key. The case of the password characters must agree with the case entered when the password was specified during bridge configuration (i.e., lower-case characters are not the same as upper-case letters). Page 1 of 1 TERMINATE CONNECTION HELP The "Terminate Connection" window allows you to terminate a connection. If a password was specified at the time the bridge was configured, it must be entered. Page 1 of 1 TERMINATE CONNECTION SAVE CHANGES HELP The "Save Changes" confirmation box allows you to terminate the selected connection. To terminate the connection, highlight "Yes" and press the SELECT key. The "Options" menu will return to the screen. If you do not wish to terminate the connection, highlight "No" and press the SELECT key. The "Options" menu will return to the screen. Page 1 of 1 OPTIONS MENU HELP GET STATUS Allows you to view the status of a connection. ESTABLISH CONNECTION Allows you to establish a new connection. TERMINATE CONNECTION Allows you to terminate a connection. RESET MODEM Allows you to reset the modem on a particular line. Page 1 of 1 RESET MODEM HELP To reset the modem, choose the line number of the modem to be reset. Highlight the line number connected to the modem you wish to reset and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 2 RESET MODEM HELP If the connection is available or broken, you may reset the modem without terminating the connection. If the line is connected, you must terminate the connection before you can reset the modem. If the connection is being dialed, you must wait until it is either connected or abandoned before resetting the modem. Page 2 of 2 SELECT REMOTE BRIDGE SERVER HELP This option allows you to select the remote bridge with which you would like to communicate. Using the UP and DOWN keys, highlight the appropriate bridge and press the SELECT key. Page 1 of 1
