NOVELL PRODUCTS and VERSIONS:
GroupWise 4.1 for DOS

ABSTRACT:

Ofcheck 4.1b is fully compatible with previous versions of Novell
 GroupWise databases, and is recommended for execution in place
of
 previous versions of Ofcheck.  There have been a number of
significant
 updates and enhancements made to Ofcheck, which should assist
system
 administrators in correcting problems and maintaining Novell
GroupWise
 installations.

SYMPTOM:

- During EXPIRE check for complete post office, detect and delete
orphaned
   records in message databases and orphaned files in OFFILES -
recover
   wasted storage
 - Prevent deletion of new attachment files in OFFILES
directories during
   extended run
 - Verification record validation - detect and report security
violations
   (D115 - renamed databases)
 - Detect and delete extremely large (invalid) notify files
 - Detect and correct folders linked to self instead of valid
parent
 - Resolve unowned files by setting file ownership to Supervisor
 - Turn off database roll-forward logging if accidentally turned
on
 - Show FIDs and DISKIDs for all users during summary stats
 - Correctly report recovered records in structural rebuild
 - Cleanup expired server log files
 - Better timesharing for server execution, and callbacks for
server
   termination
 - Fix low-level database code to ignore encryption bytes in WP
header
 - Fix low-level database code to delete records in extreme case
 - Fix low-level database code recover additional records during
rebuild
   in extreme case


SOLUTION: 

The GroupWise 4.1b version of Ofcheck will correct the listed
problems.

Installation Instructions:

These files may be copied to any directory from which you desire
to run
 Ofcheck.  Note that if you copy them to a directory other than
the usual
 \admin\wptools path, you will also need to copy the two
dictionary files
 (OFUSER.DC and OFMSG.DC) from your current mail installation in
order to
 fix structural problems or do rebuilds.
