SYNOPSIS

diskhog - run a restricted shell to persuade a user to remove some files.

DESCRIPTION

diskhog is a shell script initiated for a user who has failed to remove excess disk blocks. It rechecks the current disk usage, and if this is still greater than the maximum allowed, runs a restricted shell (/bin/rsh), with a PATH set to /diskhog:/usr/diskhog. When this shell terminates, a further check is made of the disk usage, and if it is now acceptable, the normal login process will continue. Otherwise the process will be repeated. The diskhog procedure is interrupt-proof, and can only be exited by either removing sufficient blocks, or on receipt of a SIGHUP signal (e.g. turning the terminal off).
