About RSA SecurID Software Token

Welcome to RSA SecurID Software Token. This desktop application allows you to import software-based security tokens to your hard drive or another supported device for use in accessing Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and other resources protected by RSA SecurID.

A software token generates a new 6- or 8-digit random number (tokencode) at regular intervals, typically every 60 seconds. This tokencode is your one-time password (OTP). You enter OTP values, along with other security information, to authenticate (verify your identity) to a protected resource, such as a VPN client application. You use a new OTP every time that you authenticate to a protected resource.

Before issuing you a token, your administrator may ask you to start the SecurID desktop application and provide a serial number. To locate this information, go to Provide Device Serial Number to Your Administrator.
