Getting around
The Main Menu
The Surf the Millennium home page appears when you click Surf the Millennium in the World Book Main Menu. Click on:
A century, such as |
To view an
imaginary home page for that century. There you can link to e-zines, want
ads, bookstores, and other types of simulated Web sites, written from
the perspective of the time. |

To select
a century and view a list of imaginary web sites. Then click on the Web
page that interests you to be transported back in time. |
Clicking on
from any simulated Web site returns you to the Main Menu. There is also a print
button that prints the current screen.
The Century Sites
Each century has
an its own home page, and links to several features. To view articles, ads,
reviews, and more, click on the hyper-linked text that causes the mouse cursor
symbol to change from an arrow to .
View from 2000
Each simulated site has its own View from 2000 box. Here, you'll find out what's real and what's imaginary and get today's perspective on the events, people, and places described. In each View box, you'll also find links to lots of additional informationarticles, booklists, and even real Web sites.
The View from 2000 information is displayed in a separate box to the left of the open Web page.
To display the View from 2000 box:
Click the icon
on the current Web page.
To link to information shown in this box, click on the hyper-linked text.
To close the View from 2000 box:
Click
in the upper right corner of the window.
The Site Map
On the Site Map page, you can view all the topics for a selected century at a glance. Then click on the Web page that interests you to be transported back in time.
To surf using the Site Map:
