Internet Service Provider (.isp) Files

An .isp file contains information that a computer requires to dial up and connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) sign-up server. A single .isp file can be used by all users who want to sign up for Internet access with a given Internet service provider. Use information in the following table to help you customize entries to point to your ISP sign-up server.

   Country_ID Specifies the country/region ID. The Country_Code and Country_ID entries work together to represent the unique country/region combination. Country_ID is necessary because the same Country_Code can represent more than one country/region. For example, the United States and Canada both use 1 as the Country_Code. Yes

   Phone_Number Specifies the local portion of the POP telephone number. Numeric string Yes

   Disable_LCP Indicates whether the sign-up server handles LCP extensions. The default setting is No. If the sign-up server cannot handle LCP extensions, set to Yes to disable LCP on the client computer. If the sign-up server can handle LCP extensions, set to No to enable LCP on the client computer. This value is valid for Microsoft® Windows NT clients only. Yes | No No
   Negotiate_TCP_IP Specifies whether to use Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Must be set to Yes for this release. Yes N/A
