TITLE: GENERATING A WORKSTATION WITH IPX.OBJ DOCUMENT ID#: FYI-M-1902 DATE: 05APR93 PRODUCT: DR MULTIUSER DOS PRODUCT VERSION: 5.1 SUPERSEDES: N/A SYMPTOM: The incorrect IPX will hang the machine when NETM is typed when normally this would call the IPX into action. ISSUE/PROBLEM: There is a problem with the IPX.OBJ included in Novell DR Multiuser DOS 5.1. The computer hangs when NETM is entered. This only occurs with newly generated Workstations. This problem was first reported with, but not related to, several new 3-Com cards. This was only due to the fact that 3-Com has some of the newest cards available and therefore DR Multiuser DOS did not have pre-compiled versions of the IPX.COM for them. SOLUTION: Replace the old IPX.OBJ (checksum = 6D9D) with the new IPX.OBJ (checksum = B033). The new IPX.OBJ is available on the support BBS at 408-649-3443 as IPXDRM.ZIP. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Replace old file: IPX.OBJ file of 4-10-92 5:10a with the new file: IPX.OBJ of 1-22-93 3:48p before creating a Workstation with WSGEN Verify the Checksum by typing: XDIR IPX.OBJ /C xdir IPX.OBJ /c --a--- 26,266 1-22-93 3:48p B033 ipx.obj total files 1 total bytes 26,266 disk free space 2,033,152 master checksum B033 (hex)
