ííííThe main chapel shrine contains the oldest, most precious object in Tibet-the original statue of Sakyamuni which Princess Wen Cheng brought from Changí»an in the 7th century when she married Songtsan Gambo. The Tang Emperor presented plenty of dowry to his lovely daughter including this rare treasure, the original statue of Sakyamuni. It is said that the statue was made when he was alive, and this is the holy statue that pilgrims make full-length prostration towards it.
