This is the final lesson about the stem changing verbs. In the last one we talked about the e to ie verbs. This lesson will cover the e to i verbs. They work just like the other stem changers. First, identify the stem, then the vowel that changes, and then make the change. The only difference is that now the e switches to an i. A good thing to remember is that the e to i verbs all end in ir.

Let´s look at one of the commonly used verbs - pedir, which means to ask for:

tú pides (you ask for)
usted pide (you ask for) ella pide (she asks for) él pide (he asks for) Pablo pide (Paul asks for)	ustedes piden (you all ask for) ellas piden (they ask for) ellos piden (they ask for) María y Pablo piden (Mary and Paul ask for)

Once again the form of the boot is maintained since the nosotros form of the verb doesn´t change.

The verb we have talked about here, pedir, is a useful verb, especially when asking for or ordering something at a resaurant. You will be able to practice similar exercises in this lesson. Let´s see an example.

Mi papá siempre pide un refresco con su comida.
My dad always asks for (or orders) a soft drink with his food.
