Please read the following information BEFORE using the control!

The Browse Control is designed to be used with Visual Basic 2.0 or later,
and it requires VXBASE.DLL. VXBASE is a shareware product available on most
Buletin Boards having a VB section.

1. Requirements

  MS DOS version 3.31 or above
  MS Windows version 3.1 or above
  Visual Basic 2.0 or above
  vxBase version 2.11 or above
  0.5 MB free hard disk space for full installation, with demo
  0.2 MB for only the control and the help file


2. Installation
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  The following files should be in the compressed file:
	README.1ST		- this file
	BRW.VBX			- the control
	VXBINTFC.DLL	- vxBase interface DLL
	BROWSE.HLP		- on-line Windows help file
	BRW_INC.TXT		- text file with the Browse global constants
	VXBASE.BAS		- VB ASCII file with all the required vxBase definitions

	Sample files:
	BROWSE1.ZIP		- compressed example files

  Copy the BRW.VBX into your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, copy the VXBINTFC.DLL
  in the same directory as the VXBASE.DLL (normally in \WINDOWS\SYSTEM).
  Copy the BROWSE.HLP file either in the \VB or in the \WINDOWS directory.

  You can now delete from the sample directory: BRW.VBX, VXBINTFC.DLL and
  BROWSE.HLP.

  Make a directory for the example files somewhere on your hard disk, then
  copy the BROWSE1.ZIP there and unzip it.

  It is recommendable that the BRW_INC.TXT and VXBASE.BAS be copied into the
  \VB directory, so that you can easily incorporate them in any project.

  The control does not make any changes to your DOS and WINDOWS system files.



3. Changes and additions from version 2.0
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  There are quite a lot of changes, please revise the on-line help for 
  a detailed description of the ones summarized bellow:

  - field editing in the browse
  - on-line design time help, lots of examples
  - ability to 'freeze' columns to the left
  - new properties and events
  - improved speed

  The control is fully compatible with version 2.0.  You need to change the
  VXBINTFC.DLL with the one provided, otherwise it will crash.



4. Accessing ON-LINE help
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  On-line help is now provided for design time, the name of the help file is
  BROWSE.HLP, and it should be available on the search path of WinHelp, in
  order to access it (for example in the \VB or \WINDOWS directory).

  To access help about the browse control while in VB in design mode:
  - click on the control to mark it then press F1
  - click on any custom property in the Property List, then press F1
  - click on any event in the Events List (in the code window), then press F1

  However, because many of the most important properties are only available
  at run-time, it is recommended that you install the browse help in the VB
  window (for example) in the Program Manager, and then read through the
  Description section and the examples there.

  To install it select from the Program Manager File/New, then select
  Program Item, type in a description and define the command line as:
  WinHelp c:\vb\browse.hlp (or the right path to the help file).

	
5. Registration information
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  This control is a fully functional demo version of the Browse control,
  the only limitation is that databases used with this version are limited 
  to 300 records.  If you like the software and register it, you will receive the
  production control, and also technical support by phone or CompuServe.
