JBuilder 8 is the most comprehensive set of award-winning, visual development tools for creating pure Java, platform-independent business applications, applets, servlets, and JavaBeans for the Java 2 platform.
Please read these instructions entirely before installing JBuilder 8.
To use the Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) Functionality, choose Tools|Configure Servers the first time you run JBuilder 8 to setup the application server of your choice.

Installing and configuring the Borland Enterprise Server
JBuilder 8 contains a version of JDK 1.4.1. You should use this version instead of any earlier version that you might have.
Note: You may need to install Solaris System Patches to run the latest version of the JDK which is included in this installer. If you think you may need to install these patches, they can be found on the following web page: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/install-solaris-patches.html (These patches are created and distributed by Sun, and are in no way supported by Borland Software Corporation.)

To install JBuilder 8:
ent_install
to start the installation program.install_solaris
in the
root
directory of your
JBuilder 8
CD to start the installation.ent_install.bin
in the Solaris
directory on your JBuilder 8 product CD.
XWindows has security restrictions that can cause a GUI application to fail if running the application as a different user than the one logged in. One such case is when you open a terminal window and use the "su" command to become "root". The error message issued is usually 'Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server'. This is a security feature, not a bug. To avoid this problem, open a terminal window and type the following commands:
xhost +localhost export DISPLAY=yourmachinename:0.0
This command notifies XWindows that any user on your machine is authorized to use your display. After the installation you can run the command:
xhost -localhost
to reset the value to the default.
To uninstall JBuilder 8,
run the following from the directory where you installed JBuilder 8: UninstallEnterprise/UninstallEnterprise
