The following bugs have been fixed from that release. JOYSTICK: There was a twitching or pulling when driving that was fixed. NIGHT CHARLOTTE: A green line appeared around the outside of the screen at this track. It occured most frequently in low-res. DATES: The dates for races were in european format causing problems with the calendar. STANDINGS: Some of the headers on standings saved to disk were in the wrong order. They now appear correctly. ======================================================================= II] HOW TO INSTALL THE PATCH NOTE: this patch should be used on a Complete Installation of NASCAR Racing 2, version 1.02. See Section III for additional information. A. WIN95 INSTRUCTIONS (WINDOWS EXPLORER) ----------------------------------------- 1. Go to Start, Programs, and select Windows Explorer. 2. Find the file N2PAT2.EXE and double click on it. This will extract 7 files to the C:\SIERRA\NASCAR2 directory; NAS2TS.DOC, NAS2TS.TXT, PATCH.EXE, PATCH.RTP, README.BAT, README2.TXT, & TSGUIDE.BAT. NOTE: If your NASCAR 2 is not located in the C:\SIERRA\NASCAR2 directory you will need to copy the files PATCH.EXE and PATCH.RTP to the proper directory and switch to it before proceeding to step number 3. 3. Double click on PATCH.EXE. When finished you will see "Total File Patches Processed...(3)" B. WIN95 INSTRUCTIONS (DOS PROMPT) ----------------------------------- 1. Exit to a DOS prompt and switch to the directory where the NASCAR 2 patch is located. 2. Type N2PAT2 and press . This will extract 7 files to the C:\SIERRA\NASCAR2 directory; NAS2TS.DOC, NAS2TS.TXT, PATCH.EXE, PATCH.RTP, README.BAT, README2.TXT, & TSGUIDE.BAT. 3. Type CD\SIERRA\NASCAR2 and press . NOTE: If your NASCAR 2 is not located in the C:\SIERRA\NASCAR2 directory you will need to copy the files PATCH.EXE and PATCH.RTP to the proper directory and switch to it before proceeding to step number 4. 4. Type PATCH and press . When finished you will see "Total File Patches Processed...(3)" 5. Start the game as you normally do from DOS or Windows 95. ======================================================================= III] ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Please make sure you are using the correct patch for the version of NASCAR Racing 2 installed on your system. This patch should be used ONLY if you have previously updated to version 1.02 using a patch. There were no CDs of 1.02 made, so if you have never updated NASCAR Racing 2 using a patch, you should not use this update. You will want to use either N2PAT0.EXE or N2PAT1.EXE, the most recent patches for versions 1.00 or 1.01 of NASCAR Racing 2. If you have not patched previously, the following information will help you to determine which other patch you need to use. To determine whether you have version 1.00 or 1.01: 1. While in Windows 95, insert the NASCAR Racing 2 CD into your drive. 2. When the Autoplay screen comes on, click on the Install button. 3. When the Sierra Installation screen comes on, Right Click anywhere on that screen. 4. The version of the file SETUP.EXE will appear. If SETUP.EXE is 3.2.2.0, you have version 1.00 of NASCAR Racing 2. If SETUP.EXE is 3.2.2.1, you have version 1.01 of NASCAR Racing 2. If you do not have Windows 95, you can check the date of the SETUP.EXE file on the CD. 1. Insert the CD into your CD Rom drive (usually D:) 2. Type that drive's letter and press enter (e.g. D: ) 3. Type DIR and press enter. 4. Look for the SETUP.EXE file and check the date to the right. If you have version 1.00, the date will be 11/6/96. If you have version 1.01, the date will be 11/27/96. If the patch is run on a Minimum Installation of NASCAR Racing 2, there are four track files that will not get updated. One relates to fixing the pitting problems at Atlanta, and the other three of these relate only to 4-bit rendition graphics. Also, if you have edited the Atlanta.txt file, you will need to restore the original version from the NASCAR Racing 2 CD before applying the patch.
