Age Of Empires FAQ Q) What is AOE? A)Age of Empires is the latest Real Time Strategy game from Microsoft developed by Ensemble Studios. Q)AOE looks like a Rip-off of Warcraft II is this true? A)While the Real Time Genre goes back to Dune II, I would not call AOE a rip-off of Warcraft II with better graphics. That's like saying Warcraft II is a rip-off on Dune II. The RTS games are Genres, while gameplay is similar their attributes are distinct. Q)Why should I buy AOE when Starcraft is coming out in December? A) Well if your a diehard RTS fan than I suggest you pick it up, however, if you disliked Red-Alert , Total Annihilation and Civ, but loved the Warcraft series, then you should wait for Starcraft. If you like controlling ancient empires in battle and developing new technologies then AOE is for you. Q) I don't like the midi music and the fact that there is no Intro scenes in the trial version, is this what I should expect in the full? A)Not at all, there is full CD red-book audio during the game along with great intro battles scenes bundled into the full. Q) Is AOE one of those complicated strategy games? A) Not at all, the gameplay is very user friendly. It has the ease of Warcraft, yet enough depth for the expert gamer. Q) I liked Civilization but disliked Warcraft, will I like AOE? A) I would say yes. Since AOE has the best aspects of CIV and is set in a realistic environment as opposed to the Fantasy Realm of the Warcraft series, this game would probably meet your interests. Download the trial version. Q) How come Rome isn't one of the Empires you can play? A) The Roman Empire was set off in a different time period, the second and third centuries AD. AOE's time period is in the fifth and fourth centuries BC. Besides, Rome would be way too powerful and you wouldn't get to play cool empires like the Egyptians, Greeks, Shang, and Phoenician.
