     Pronounced A plus, a certification developed by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) to validate vendor-neutral skills for entry-level computer technicians. Holders of the A+ certification have been trained in installing, repairing, troubleshooting, maintaining, customizing and operating PCs. There are two different exams one must take in order to receive A+ certification:

  • core competency – certifies in general knowledge of PCs, including installation and configuration, hardware and software upgrading, safety procedures, diagnostics, maintenance and repair.
  • specialized training – certifies in all current versions of the Windows operating system.
