First, an air-and-fuel mixture (represented by the blue dots) is introduced
into the chamber.  The valve on the right (shown in black)
opens as the piston is drawn down by the revolving
camshaft.  Higher pressure outside the chamber forces the mixture in.
When the piston is at the
bottom of its stroke the
valve is closed.
