Speed Disk improves disk performance by defragmenting files. When files are contiguous, they load faster, improving overall system performance. General options let you customize the optimization processes on a per drive basis. You can have Speed Disk place specific files or file types first or last on the disk and sort them by folder. The possible uses for these features are endless and totally under your control.

Speed Disk displays a disk map showing the amount of fragmentation on the selected disk. When you begin optimizing, the disk map animates the optimization process. If your computer is multimedia ready, you can select a sound or music file to be played during the optimization process.

If you need to work and you just don't want to wait for Speed Disk to finish optimizing your disk, simply minimize it. Speed Disk minimizes to the notification bar and continues to work while you work.

If you don't know when to run Speed Disk, let Norton System Doctor monitor the fragmentation level of your disk and automatically defragment it when necessary.
