This file contains important instructions concerning this CD-ROM.
Please read this information carefully before you start to work.

Installation instructions for StarOffice are found in the
Readme file in the installation directory (e.g. /solaris/office52) and in the /documentation directory.
In the /documentation/acrobat/ directory you will find the Acrobat Reader with which to load PDF files for your platform.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE INSTALLATION OF STAROFFICE 5.2
                      UNDER SUN SOLARIS
##############################################################

Before installing StarOffice 5.2 under Sun Solaris you must install a SUN Microsystems operating system patch.

They can be found on the CD-ROM under:

For Solaris Sparc under:
/solaris/patches/solaris2.5.1/  --> Solaris 2.5.1
/solaris/patches/solaris2.6/    --> Solaris 2.6
/solaris/patches/solaris7/      --> Solaris 7

For Solaris x86 under:
/solarisi/patches/solaris2.5.1/  --> Solaris 2.5.1
/solarisi/patches/solaris2.6/    --> Solaris 2.6
/solarisi/patches/solaris7/      --> Solaris 7

The patch is named: "Shared library patch for C++"

PLEASE NOTE THAT STAROFFICE WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THIS PATCH!

Following is an example installation of the patch for SUN Solaris Sparc.
(Please note that patch numbers (file names) for Sun Solaris x86 differ from those below.)

NOTE: You can view a list of all of the applied system patches by entering the commands showrev -p or patchadd -p. Use patchrm to deinstall a patch.
