The Visitor Center is nine miles northwest of Park City (I-65) and ten miles west of Cave City (I-65). WHEN TO VISIT Open year round. Peak visitor month is July. Winters are cold, Summers are hot. POINTS OF INTEREST The Park was established to preserve the cave system, including Mammoth Cave, the scenic river valleys of the Green and Nolin rivers, and a section of the hilly country north of the Green River. This is the longest recorded cave system in the world with more than 330 miles explored and mapped. GENERAL INFORMATION Temperature inside the cave remains at about 54 degrees F, and the humidity can be high at 100%. Some cave tours are strenuous. Wear a sweater or jacket and sturdy walking shoes.
