The Monument is forty-four miles north of Silver City at the end of NM 15. Silver City is on US 180. WHEN TO VISIT Open year round. Peak visitor month is August. Summer temperatures are 80 to 100 degrees F. Winter temperatures are 24 to 56 degrees F. Spring and Fall temperatures are 60 to 80 degrees F. POINTS OF INTEREST These well-preserved cliff dwellings were inhabited from about 1280 to the early 1300s A.D. ACTIVITIES Visitor Center; museum/exhibits; self-guiding tours/trails; fishing. GENERAL INFORMATION A campground is available at Gila Cliff, three miles from the Monument. Food, supplies, and overnight accommodations are available in Gila Hot Springs and Silver City.
