Coolbean.fli is a nifty animation that provides a good demonstration on the uses of threshold and radius values used in blobs. Each pair of blob components are independent of each other, as shown with the different textures. When the components are seperated, each pair seems to have the same threshold and radius, but when they come together, it's easy to see that there's a logical progression of thresholds and radii going in opposite directions.
